It appears the producers for the Broadway show Speed-the-Plow are not satisfied with Jeremy Piven's mercury poisoning excuse for dropping out of the show after only two months. In fact, they have officially filed a grievance against the Human Thermometer with the stage actor's union.
Piven's publicist, Samantha Mast, called the producers' claims "absurd and outrageous." She said in a statement, "He withdrew from the play due to medical necessity on the advice of his doctors, after he was hospitalized and warned by his physicians that enforced rest was necessary in order to avoid serious medical problems, including a heart attack." (Source)If Piven doesn't quickly settle the matter this should become very interesting, as he will need his doctor to testify on his behalf and defend the diagnosis. We should also find out if those rumors of Piven's post-show partying turn out to be true, and if so he'll be forced to explain himself.
Depending on what you believe, Piven is either being one-hundred-percent truthful and you can feel bad for him, or he's lying through is teeth and just digging the hole deeper and deeper.
