Apparently to some high-and-mighty fashion types, Blake Lively appearing on the cover of the February 2009 issue of Vogue magazine is a big deal. It seems in the eyes of some snobby bitches she's just a lowly actress and not yet recognized as a "real" fashion icon, which is strange because in every single interview Lively has ever done all she talks about is Gossip Girl's influence on fashion for the under-30 crowd, particularly in New York. Seriously, it's as if she has nothing else to talk about.
Said snobby types could suggest Lively has delusions of grandeur, but the show's impact has been relatively obvious and is generally accepted as fact by most. As a casual observer I've seen Gossip Girl's impact firsthand in both Northern and Southern California, and surely it's even more noticeable back East given the show's location.
Not to step on Gawker's toes, but one such example is New York quasi-cyber-celebrity Julia Allison, who has admittedly taken inspiration from the show by occasionally frequently dressing like Blair Waldorf, played by actress Leighton Meester. Surely Allison is not alone.
Anyway, here are the images from Blake's photo shoot for Vogue. She has a much more striking appearance when she's not playing Serena and actually bothers to have her hair styled instead of going for that hot mess look.
