The year is still young, but we already have a winner for the most ridiculously named project of 2009. Hilary Duff is set to star in a TV show for NBC called, get this: Barely Legal. No, I'm not making this up. The Hollywood Reporter has the details:
On the heels of the pilot order for David E. Kelley's legal dramedy "Legally Mad," the network has picked up for development "Barely Legal," a half-hour comedy based on the true story of Kathleen Holtz, who in November 2007 passed the notoriously difficult California bar at age 18 to become the state's youngest lawyer. There's no way NBC greenlit this project without realizing it had the same title as an extremely popular porno series. That combined with Hilary Duff's sexy new image is actually pretty hilarious. She would be played by Hilary Duff, who has come on board as part of her talent deal with the network and Universal Media Studios.
If Barely Legal becomes a hit, perhaps NBC will continue this trend. I can see it now: Coming in the Fall of 2010, Miley Cyrus stars in "Who's Your Daddy?" - a show about a girl conceived during a one-night-stand who attempts to track down the father she never knew.
