Olga Kurylenko Denounced by Communists
If you need evidence that the Communist party is now completely irrelevant, the fact that they're bothering to call out Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko for starring in a Bond movie is pretty much all you need to know. Yahoo Movies reports:
The Ukrainian actress, who plays a Bolivian secret agent opposite Daniel Craig's 007 in "Quantum Of Solace", has also gained ire of the Communist Party of St. Petersburg, which in an open letter on its website condemned her for aiding "the killer of hundreds of Soviet people and their allies." The group's statement describes 007 as "a man who worked for decades under the orders of Thatcher and Reagan to destroy the USSR."

The Communist Party of St Petersburg, a splinter group of the second largest political party in the Russian Duma, has made headlines earlier in the year when it denounced "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" as crude anti-Soviet propaganda and called actors Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett "capitalist puppets."

The group appealed to Kurylenko, who was born in the former USSR: "The Soviet Union educated you, cared for you and brought you up for free but no one suspected that you would commit this act of intellectual and moral betrayal." Sergei Malenkovich, head of the party's regional organization, further elaborated to the Associated Press, arguing the movie wanted "to show that a Ukrainian girl sleeps with an American. It's a part of information and psychological war."

The Communist party might as well put a headline on their web site that reads: Join Us! We have no idea what the fuck we're talking about!

If you're going to condemn a person for appearing in a film, it might help to actually watch said film before making a public statement and embarrassing yourself. Not only does Kurylenko's character not even sleep with James Bond, even if she did, how exactly would that portray a "Ukranian girl sleeping with an American"? Considering Ian Fleming wrote several novels and there have been more than 20 Bond movies made over a period of 40-plus years, you'd think they'd know by now that 007 is British, not to mention that 007 is probably the most iconic British character of all time. But perhaps they meant actor Daniel Craig - oh wait, he's not American either. I didn't realize Karl Marx included a passage in his book condemning fact checkers and editors as well. Morons.

While Olga Kurylenko has yet to respond publicly, I'm guessing her response would be something along the lines of "who gives a shit?" or "check out my Maxim photo shoot." Here she is at the Australian premiere for Quantum of Solace.
