The new issue of Us Weekly reports that Jon Gosselin is telling friends his estranged wife Kate -- whom he calls "monster mom" -- is abusing their kids.

"Jon says she spanks the kids all the time," a source tells Us Weekly. "All she has to do is look at them and they get scared."

Case in point?

Kate, 34, "kicked a lego building into a million pieces because the boys didn't put it away the first time she asked them to," the insider says.

I remember the day my mom kicked over my lego creation when I was a child. Of course, she demanded I create a 1/10th scale model of The Arc de Triomphe and I built The Millennium Falcon. Oh how I failed you mommy...but I digress.

A Kate confidant tells Us that Kate "barely talks" to her children.

"The nannies are doing 95 percent of the work," the pal says. "Kate has a short attention span, and everything upsets her."

Jon, 32, isn't that much better, according to another source who overheard him ask a paparazzo what time the children get home from school.

"He gets annoyed when they interrupt him when he's on the phone," the source says. (Us Magazine)
